Welcome Message

I am delighted to announce the forthcoming Hong Kong Society of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons 2024 to be held on 21st to 23rd June 2024. The theme of this year is "Updates of Management of Esophageal and Gastric Cancers".

With the advancements in technology, early endoscopic detection and minimally invasive robotic surgery with the aim of early cancer detection and function-preserving surgery are shaping the treatment of UGI cancers. Development of new oncologic treatments have also altered the treatment landscape. In this symposium, we shall focus on robotic surgery and new technology, endoscopic treatment and advances in oncologic treatments. Apart from the symposium, there are also the endoscopy workshop and cadaveric gastrectomy workshop. We hope that participants will not only learn about the latest developments, but also have the opportunity to learn these techniques with hands-on experience.

Local and overseas surgeons, gastroenterologist and oncologists are all welcomed to attend this symposium. We have received an overwhelming registration for both workshops from both local and overseas candidates. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the speakers, delegates, sponsors, co-organizing units and the secretariat who are devoted to making this conference a success.

I look forward to greeting you at the meeting!
